World Champions Cup
THE BACKGROUND
PGA TOUR Champions is a membership organization of professional golfers age 50 and older, including 35 members of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Its mission is to entertain and inspire its fans, deliver substantial value to its partners, create outlets for volunteers to give back and generate significant charitable and economic impact in tournament communities.
THE CHALLENGE
Of the existing three global team major golf competitions, there were none at the PGA TOUR Champions level, which features some of golf’s most legendary players. This represented an opportunity to create a signature property that could attract a major sponsor and become a global, must-watch event.
OUR SOLUTION
Intersport created a first-of-its-kind three-team international golf competition: The Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children’s, launched in 2023 — featuring the U.S. Team, International Team, and European Team competing for international pride and global bragging rights.
Officially sanctioned by PGA TOUR, this new format would renew golf’s most storied rivalries, creating a launching pad to become the best and most well-known global team golf competition of all time.
RESULTS
Aired live on ESPN, ESPN+ and ABC, the event was an incredible success. As a result, Intersport welcomed Skechers as the tournament’s Title Sponsor and Shriners Children’s as the tournament’s Official Charity Partner.
Intersport is committed to creating globally recognized world class golf tournaments, which leverages all practice areas of the agency.
